what you should know about darfur

Published by admin under Lead Story, justice, news, web

There is a great summary of the Darfur conflict (click here to view) over at a new humanitarian website ‘The Humanitarian Chronicle‘.

Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the conflict in Darfur (western Sudan).

Also, for further information, or to get involved, visit http://www.savedarfur.org.

To Creed or not to Creed?

Published by Dale under blog, web

(This is our first ‘blog’ post. These are meant to stimulate thought and interaction, so comments are welcome. Thanks!)

In our evening services, we’ve started a sermon series on the Apostle’s Creed. Baptists aren’t known for being a denomination that uses any Creeds. Why do you think that is?

To take things further, it has been said that the Judaism from which Christianity came was less concerned with ‘orthodoxy’ (right belief) than with ‘ortho-praxy’ (right action). What is the value of an itemised ‘list’ of correct beliefs?

Lydia on bFM

Published by Dale under music, news, web

Lydia liveOne of our many talented musicians, Lydia Cole, recently played a live set on bFM!

Three others from our community are in her band, and joined her for the live morning set: Rachel Harrison (bass), Andrew Madjar (keys) & Pascal Jarry (drums). The host was very complementary of the performance.

If you missed it live, you can listen to (or download) the recording on their website by clicking here.

(Lydia’s music can be sampled at her myspace page: www.myspace.com/lydiamusic)

nbc.org.nz intro

Published by Dale under news, web

At last!!! Our site is finally up and going!!!

This site is, quite literally, for anyone and everyone, and we want www.nbc.org.nz to do at least a few things:

  • Provide info about our community for those looking (location, service times, values, etc.)
  • Provide info to our community for those within it (event calendar, sermon mp3’s, updates, etc.)
  • Provide a place to explore issues and beliefs… (blog)

Let us know how you find the site, and we hope you find it helpful!
