50th Jubilee Weekend

Come share with us our 50th Jubilee Weekend celebrations with a special weekend of activities and events.

We have planned a fun filled weekend designed to provide plenty of opportunity meet with up with past, present and future members of our congregation; to enjoy some fellowship and food, culminating with a special Sunday morning service that will rededicate the church as a whole back to God for the next 50 years and beyond.

Below is an outline of the weekend, as well as the registration costs and payment details.


Friday 16th August, 2013: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Come to the Church Foyer between 4-7pm on Friday 16th August to collect your registration pack and name badge for the Jubilee Celebrations. Your name badge is your ticket to all the events and activities, so please collect these.

Friday Family Fun Night

Friday 16th August, 2013: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Let’s kick start the 50th Jubilee Celebrations off with a trip down memory lane – do you want to capture the old Variety Shows, or the infamous Sports Camps? Who could forget the terrific Trivia evenings? Well – we don’t want you to miss out so we are rolling all three into one fabulously fun and rollicking evening.

Get your family, get your laughing gear, and get ready for a fun filled family evening together.

Have a catch up with old friends and meet new ones over coffee and cake in our renewed Fingal’s Cave Cafe.

Saturday Day

If you register for the full Jubilee weekend, you will receive a list of all people attending with their contact details*, one week prior to the event. We want to encourage you to contact your friends for a catch up. Maybe get two or three of you together and catch up on old times.

* Only the names and contact details of people who give permission during the registration process will be released.

Jubilee Gala Dinner

Saturday 17th August: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Tonight we will be celebrating God’s grace, love and faithfulness to us as a church family and as a community.

Through talent and tales, come and enjoy a special three course buffet dinner, catered by the Spit Roast Company,  and remember and reminisce. A high end Auction will be held to help raise funds for the new building, so bring some extra moo-laa to grab yourself a fabulous prize!

Dress Code: Semi-formal. No Jeans.

Four of NBC’s talented young men who play smooth, sophisticated jazz grooves.  They are beginning to be well know at corporate functions and festival gigs.  Come and enjoy the opportunity to enjoy their talent and music.  The band will create the perfect atmosphere for our Gala Dinner.

Auckland-based Electronica artist Matt Shepherd will be performing at our Gala Dinner. Matt is a recorded artist with his Album titled Still Small Voice. Matt says, “In this crazy world the most precious thing we can do is begin to listen to that still small voice inside.

Great North is one of New Zealand foremost alt-country bands.  2012 winners of the prestigious Tui Award (NZ music award) for ‘best folk album, and shortlisted for a Silver Scroll Award for songwriting, we have the privilege of having them play at our 50th Jubilee Gala Dinner.  With our Associate Pastor, Dale Campbell, church members Hayden and Rachel Donnell (nee Harrison) as some of the band’s key members, this is truly a celebration of the present and future at NBC. Visit Great North here

Sunday Celebration Service

Sunday 18th August: 10:15 am – 12:00 pm

We have spent the weekend looking at the past and catching up with people in the present. This service will look to the future.

From small beginnings in 1949 the story of the Northcote Baptist Church began. The first service of the new officially recognised church was held on 18 August 1963 and from this we have, in some way, been touched or transformed by its ministry. Today, we continue to be part of this continuing story as we look to the future ; to rededicate the church as a whole back to God for the next 50 years and beyond.

Youth Choir

As part of the service, we will be presenting the Youth Choir. This Youth Choir will reflect the theme of our Jubilee celebrations – past, present and future. We would love so many of you to be involved, led by Choir Master of old, Wes Jones.

Please register your interest by Friday 26th July, 2013. This will give us time to organise some rehearsals.

The service starts sharp at 10.15am and will be followed by light refreshments as you say your goodbyes.

*For a Family Pass to the Friday Family Fun Night, the cost is $40.00 per family.
There is no limit to the number of children for this Family Pass, but we do ask that you are genuinely from the same family.

  • Sunday Celebration Service, followed by light refreshments

Terms and Conditions of Registration:

  1. There are limited numbers for the 50th Jubilee Weekend. Registration is on a first come, first paid basis only.
  2. Please note that your registration will NOT be confirmed until you have made complete payment. You have 7 working days from the receipt of your registration to complete payment.
  3. If Payment is not made within the timeframe, registrations will be placed on a wait list.
  4. Refund Policy : Registration fees will be refunded upon written notice received by the Jubilee Organising Committee on or before 1 August 2013, less a $10 administration fee. After 1 August 2013, no fees will be refunded, but can be transferred to another person.
  5. All registration fees are quoted in New Zealand dollars exclusive of GST.
